The Wake of an Artist – Tribute to Bernardo Sassetti

“Listening to the way Alberto Conde play Sonho dos Outros and Noite-Alice I only can think that they woukd be good friends if their roads crossed more often, recognizing in each other some of the same human qualities. For my part, I can only feel privileged to have met, and socialized with, both Alberto and Bernardo. The Little contribution I gave to the realization of this Project has a huge significance for me. Thank you Alberto, and thank you Bernardo, for such lovely music…”

Andaina Link to heading

Portada Andaina

A new musical work by Alberto Conde Trio in which, once again, Galician music travels through Jazz with new compositions by Alberto Conde himself.

In addition to the trio—featuring double bassist Baldo Martínez, drummer-percussionist Nirankar Khalsa, and Alberto Conde—this new project includes special collaborations with two renowned guest artists: flamenco-Galician guitarist Cuchús Pimentel and the outstanding Galician voice of Maite Dono, both of whom undoubtedly contribute meaningful depth and a distinctive sound to the whole work.

  5. Esencia
  6. Mestizo
  7. Andaina
  8. Astrolabio
  9. Teño saudade
  10. Time remembered

The leitmotif of the album is based on the inevitable changes that human beings are both willing to face and exposed to throughout life, told through a musical journey from Galicia to Latin America—a one-way voyage.
‘A journey of generational evolution’, portraying how the grandchildren or great-grandchildren of the first Galician and Spanish emigrants will be the ones to discover the land of their ancestors, when their grandparents were never able to return. Grandchildren who are mostly the children of unions between Spaniards and Creoles, Afro-Americans, Italians, Indigenous people, etc.

Andaina is a musical journey through time into Galician roots, where jazz serves as the vehicle that connects the eras, and the melodies reflect the traveler’s many situations.

Reviews Link to heading

Entremares Link to heading

Portada Entremares

Entremares brings together the experiences of Alberto Conde and Baldo Martínez in fusing jazz with Galician music. Supported by Nirankar Khalsa (Afro-American percussionist-drummer), they achieve a fresh and original sound. Rather than just Galician Music, we should speak of World Music with Galician roots.

This ensemble creates an open atmosphere with simple melodies, spontaneity, expressiveness, and rhythmic variety: Galician music enriched by Afro-American music.

Reviews Link to heading
